Svitzer has its Head Office in Copenhagen and the Legal Department supports all aspects of legal, regulatory and commercial matters for the Svitzer Group. We are looking for a Student Assistant to assist the international Legal Department with general legal tasks, specifically legal compliance initiatives. You will be part of an international Legal Department with eight professional lawyers who all support the business with legal advice and compliance guidance.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for assisting the international Legal Department with a wide range of tasks, including:
• Assisting our legal compliance officer to manage the overall compliance program for anti-corruption, export control, data privacy and competition law
• Helping review and drafting of a multitude of different terms, agreements, amendments and other instruments (confidentiality agreements, towage contracts, etc.)
• Legal research and analysis, and drafting of legal memoranda
• Explaining complete legal concepts to and working closely with other departments, including the commercial, strategy, technical and operational departments
• Understanding and communicating contractual liability and risk profiles across the asset portfolio
• Transactional work, including document handling
• Assisting in the development of document filing systems within the Legal Department

Who we are looking for

You will be offered a rare opportunity to gain insight into a highly international Legal Department and to participate in global legal matters in challenging operating environments. We are looking for a candidate who is:
• Currently studying Law and who has completed, or is about to complete, their Bachelor’s degree (stud.jur or stud.merc.jur)
• Analytical and good at keeping focus on complex issues
• Commercially minded
• Self-driven and willing to take individual responsibility for your tasks
• Team oriented and willing to provide effective assistance to the lawyers in the department
• Able to speak, read and write English fluently
• Willing to work at least 15-20 hours a week
• Some knowledge of basic common law and legal compliance concepts is an advantage, but not a prerequisite.
