The Microbiome Center within Chr Hansen’s Microbiome & Human Health Innovation is looking for a highly motivated Senior Laboratory Technician ("Laborant" or "Laboratorietekniker") with a strong background in microbiology.

The Microbiome Center is located in Chr. Hansen’s site Hoersholm. It is responsible for developing manufacturing processes and establishing cell banks for GMP production of therapeutic bacteria, particularly strict anaerobes, which will be used in clinical trials. We are a team of scientists and technicians who work both with Chr Hansen’s proprietary strains as well as those of external partners to develop robust, high yield and GMP compliant procedures. You will be involved in both upstream (media preparation, fermentation) and downstream processes (separation and drying techniques). While your main focus will be laboratory scale, extrapolation to pilot and industrial scale will be part of your challenges. The work is varied, with both evolving needs and fast growth, requiring adaptation to specific strain requirements and target product profile needs.

Your main tasks

In close collaboration with scientists you will design and execute lab scale experiments (up-and downstream) on internal and external projects

  • Generate, analyze, summarize and report experimental data in English
  • Proactively develop ideas for improvement of upstream and downstream processes
  • Perform supporting analysis using e.g. flow cytometry, general and anaerobic microbiology, water content/-activity, HPLC, GC and other stability tests
  • Follow and maintain health and safety procedures

  Your qualifications

  • You are a lab technician ("Laborant" or "Laboratorietekniker") and ideally fulfill the following profile:
  • At least 5 years’ practical experience in microbiology, preferably with strict anaerobes
  • Experience with fermentation techniques and preferably also downstream technologies
  • Experience with GC, HPLC and microbiological quantification methods.
  • Skilled in developing and documenting methods and protocols
  • Able to design experiments and establish new techniques
  • Good written and spoken English and, preferably, also Danish
  • Organized, able to balance a wide range of activities, resourceful, independent and self-motivated
  • Eager to learn new techniques, take on new tasks, and can switch easily between these
  • You like working as part of a diverse team and will go the extra mile to maintain a
  • good working environment

We offer

A position in a highly dynamic and successful company with a competitive remuneration package. This will allow you to operate at the interface of a breakthrough science area and a high profile business landscape. You will join an international team of motivated colleagues.

If you have any questions, please contact Wendy Ossieur, Research Scientist (+45 53 39 31 88) or Jimi Pettersson, Senior Research Scientist (+45 53 39 03 54).

Applications from candidates with an academic background (i.e., PhD or Master level scientists) without a formal technician education will not be considered.

Please apply on-line in English. Here you can enter your details into our CV bank.

Deadline for application is 13 August 2017.
