We are looking for a postdoctoral Research Scientist to fill a three year position for our Biochemical Analysis Department within the R&D in Hørsholm, Denmark.     Chr. Hansen is a world leading company which develops and manufactures microbial culture and enzyme-based products for the food, health and nutrition industries. The Microbial Analysis Department is part of the central R&D organization "R&D Microbial Platform" where we play a central role in projects and activities related to new product and new process development.   The main focus of the department is to develop and validate new analytical chemical methods as well as perform biochemical analyses for culture and product performance. You will become part of a busy department where we help each other, aim for scientific excellence, and provide high value to our customers.   This position is part of a collaborative network involving several external partners (Technical University of Denmark, and University of Copenhagen) supported by the Innovation Fund Denmark. It will focus on bridging chemical data on flavor formation in wine and cheese with microbial transcriptomics.     Your tasks     Within the area of method development and quantification:  
  • Optimize sample extraction procedures for food samples  
  • GC-MS analysis of aroma components of various aroma-precursors in cheese and wine
  • GC-MS and ion-chromatographic determination of various substrates and precursors to the aroma components      
  • Communicate the results generated during the research program including close coordination with the other partners (microbiology, food-application, and especially bioinformatics), to enhance and ensure proper experimental design and interpretation of results
  Your personal profile    
  • PhD in aroma chemistry, metabolomics, natural product chemistry, analytical chemistry, food chemistry or a related area  
  • Expert in knowledge in chromatography and mass spectrometry (troubleshooting, method development, and theory)  
  • Highly self-motivated and a proven team player with outstanding communication and networking skills  
  • Fluency in spoken and written English  
  You have a strong track record within one or more of these areas:   i) aroma and flavor formation; ii) GC-Olfactometry; iii) R and/or Matlab handling of metabolomics data; or iv) experience in cheese and wine chemistry     We offer   A challenging position in a global company, with excellent opportunities for personal development.
