As part of a programme called Always On, Maersk Line are building an internal delivery supporting high cadence delivery capabilities.

We are in the process of strengthening the development services organization with a focus on driving predictability, reduced cost of ownership across and lowering time to value of delivery.

Key Responsibilities

The role will also involve:

  • Bringing a solid technical expertise of creating abstract data models to be used as a basis in a highly available and scalable database architecture used for real time access
  • Working with project stakeholders and solution architects to understand requirements and help define appropriate solutions
  • Working with database administrators to set up and configure databases in accordance with the project needs
  • Using appropriate state-of-the art tools to reveal data models lying behind existing database designs
  • Working with project stakeholders to develop high-quality new data models
  • Working with project stakeholders to ensure quality of existing data models and database designs
  • Working with database administrators to design necessary changes to existing database designs
  • Ensuring accurate and timely resolution of problems, applying structured development and implementation techniques
  • Delivery of online IT products and services
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through delivery of a high level of service
  • Embrace emerging technologies and solutions in order to ensure our online experience continually evolves to address the needs of the market and our customers
  • Working closely with external and internal service providers and maintain consistent standards and quality assurance

Who we are looking for


  • Previous experience of real time database based development using Oracle RDBMS
  • Practical experience of developing and implementing robust and scalable data models
  • Experience with overall system design, configuration, customization, integration, testing and support
  • Experience with large Full Life Cycle project implementations
  • Experience of setting, refining and implementing technical standards
  • Experience within a customer focused environment
  • Experience with all or some of the modern software engineering techniques e.g.

* Test-Driven Development (TDD)
* Continuous Integration (CI)
* Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
* Consumption and production of Application programming interfaces (API’s)
* Code validation and quality analysis

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong emotional intelligence
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills and able to articulate the technically complex to be understood by both technical and non technical personnel
  • Able to develop scalable solutions that can be utilised by current and future channels – e.g. mobile
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and multiple tasks
  • Stakeholder management skills at a technical and non-technical level.
  • Able to work in a collaborative environment
  • Understanding the importance of real business engagement in all stages of IT product lifecycle working in both waterfall and agile delivery methodologies
  • Good critical reasoning and problem solving skills – sticks to the problem until it is resolved
  • Excellent attention to details
  • Customer-orientated, whether responding to support queries or developing new functionality
